Our Vision
Medical
Directors working together to make Central Ohio the healthiest community in
America.

Our Mission
The Central Ohio Medical Directors Coalition is a collaborative health care initiative between the Central Ohio health plans, physician health organizations, and the Columbus Health Department, with the goal of improving community health thus making Central Ohio – “ the Healthiest Community in America”.

Organization Guidelines
The Coalition membership will be comprised of medical directors from local managed care organizations, community health organizations, large physician groups, health systems, governmental health entities, or other health organizations that significantly impact local community health. |
Other Health Care organizations and professionals may serve as supporting or consulting "advisors". |
The Central Ohio Medical Directors Coalition will function under the auspices of the Columbus Health Department, in order to assure the Coalition’s neutral and non-profit status. |
The participant and supporting organizations may contribute financial support for the Coalition’s mission and initiatives. Grants and financial assistance from outside entities may be secured or directed through the Columbus Health Department. |
All members will have one vote and be equal among their peers. It is recognized that any individual organization may have several members participating in the Coalition. |
A secretary will be appointed by the Coalition to organize the agenda, record minutes, produce documents, and maintain permanent records of the Coalition’s business matters. The secretary and administrative functions will be managed by the Columbus Health Department and do not require a Medical Director or physician performing them. Participating medical directors
and organizations agree to support administrative functions as requested. |
The Columbus Health Department representative will serve as Chair of the Coalition. The chair will oversee all pertinent functions, set the meeting and project agendas, and preside at Coalition meetings and functions. The chair will serve as the contact person or access point for outside inquiries or news media questions, unless the Coalition designates another member or
alternative process. The chair will make an extended effort to contact all Coalition members, in cases or questions that have not been considered by the Coalition. |
The Coalition will formulate a work plan for developing and initiating projects. |
Information regarding Coalition business, projects and other activity will be provided via the Internet or electronic mail. |
The guidelines may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the Coalition members. The guidelines will be reviewed on a bi-annual basis. |
Meeting Structure
Meetings will occur monthly (usually 4th or 5th Wednesday from 12 - 2 PM). An annual calendar will be circulated to members. Follow up at 645-5489 or
comdc@columbus.gov for schedule. |
A tentative annual meeting calendar including date and location will be established each year. Notification will be sent to all members upon confirmation. |
The agenda will be developed by the Chair prior to the meetings and will include an item under New Business for discussion of new, unanticipated business or projects. The coalition members will be able to supply information or agenda items to the chair. |
